On Weds December 16, in Cool Springs TN, a town hall meeting regarding the historical inaccuracies in TN textbooks Social Studies curriculum, was held to clarify the real issues regarding the Islamic portions of the books.
The contents of the meeting included Dr. Bill Warner, an expert on Islam, who explained the defects on Islam in the disputed textbooks, Cathy Hinners (myself) explaining the source of funding for the books as well as the researchers and writers background, State Representatives, teachers, and Laurie Cardoza Moore, who spoke of the anti-Jewish sentiment wide spread in the curriculum.
What was a factual, informative, sometimes eye-opening meeting, was quickly labeled an anti-Muslim, “hater hootenanny” by hypocritical, inept members of various communities, of whom zero had the courage or fortitude to show up.
The question that begs to be asked is what was hateful? How was this anti-Muslim? Is is “hateful” for parents to want their children to learn the truth about all religions? Is is anti-Muslim to inform the public of the connection of those writing textbooks to terrorist organizations?
Paul Iesa Galloway, a Muslim convert from Houston TX, who is a supporter/member of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) claims in a news interview, that scholars have vetted the information in the curriculum. Did anyone press Mr. Galloway further on who the scholars were or what their background was? Did anyone question Mr. Galloway’s connection to an organization that has been designated a terrorist organization in the U.A E, or that some CAIR leaders are in prison due to their funding of Hamas ( Holy Land Foundation trial 2008, Dallas TX)
Mr. Galloway can only argue we ( the speakers) have no history or religious background, which should cancel any experience or knowledge we have. Unfortunately, for those such as Mr. Galloway and the Islamophiles who follow him, our expertise goes beyond talk, we can backup what we say with his own religious doctrine, and documents.
Why is it the media, local to Tennessee, but even more widespread, have no desire to actually know facts?
Why would Nashville Mayor Megan Barry stand with leaders of a community she has absolutely no knowledge of? Why are “Christian” leaders denouncing those that are asking for the historical truth to be taught to children?
Why are Christian pastors dismissing the atrocities occurring to members of their global flock ? Christians are being beheaded, set on fire, and drowned and yet they dam those that have the courage to do what they should be doing.
Why are members of the Muslim community rejecting children being taught the entirety of Islam?
Why are members of the Muslim community not condemning the connections of those with tie to Hamas, and the Muslim Brotherhood? Do they approve of relationships of some of their own to ties with terror groups?
It is a tragic narrative of our American values when Professors, teachers, police officers, and parents are turned into villains for speaking the truth.
