The Council on America Islamic Relations(CAIR) is at it again, this time in the heart of the buckle of the bible belt. On Oct 9, 2015 Tennessee State Representative Sheila Butt introduced a bill that will amend the way religion is taught in public schools. This as a result of a firestorm that was created when 7th graders in a Maury County School wrote and recited the Shahada as part of an “Islamic Civilization” module in Social Studies.
The Shahada is the Islamic profession of faith and is the first of the five pillars of Islam. “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the prophet” unifies Muslims across the globe as the testimony to Islam.
True to its paranoid form, CAIR once again thinks everything is offensive and rushes to label anyone involved an Islamophobe. Although CAIR doesn’t technically have an office in Tennessee, it spouts its nonsense through former CAIR employee Paul Galloway of the American Muslim Advisory Council, or the American Center for Outreach, whichever hat is more convenient.
Galloway, often cited in news articles in Tennessee, isn’t quite the cherub he likes to portray. In Houston TX he was the founder and Director of the CAIR chapter. CAIR is a designated terrorist organization in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is an arm of Hamas which is designated in the United States as a terrorist organization. CAIR is also an unindicted co conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial, which was held in TX in 2008. CAIR has repeatedly attempted to have their name removed from court papers, but the judge has ruled there is “ample evidence” that showed CAIR funded Hamas
The bill proposed by State Rep Sheila Butt does not mention Islam, but rather states “The state board of education shall not include religious doctrine in any
curriculum standards for grades prior to grades ten through twelve (10–12). Religious doctrine. Not Islam.
Parents from across the state agreed that while the teaching of all religions has a part in teaching history, reciting the profession of Islamic faith, as well as several other assignments that crossed the line, perhaps removing discussions of all religious doctrines would be the best option until high school.
CAIR now is labeling the proposal “Anti Islam”. How is the suggestion of removing all religious doctrine anti Islam? Leave it to CAIR to find a way.
