The sponsoring of The Siddiqi Lecture in Islamic Studies which began this past Tuesday, Oct 28 with a Muslim Brotherhood associated speaker, Sherman Jackson, apparently is the tip of the iceberg.
“The Siddiqi Lecture in Islamic Studies was launched in 2014 to bring top scholars in the field of Islamic Studies to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and to foster a greater understanding of Islam in East Tennessee. We are grateful to our donors, Siddiqi Holdings of Knoxville, TN.” (http://religion.utk.edu/news/siddiqi.php)
Oops. Did anyone in the Religious Studies Dept. at UTK explore their donor Siddiqi Holdings, or did they rely on the word of their Board of Visitors for information?
In May of 2012, a decision was made in the case of a whistleblower regarding fraudulent activity involving Nadeem Siddiqi.
“Apex Medical Group, d/b/a Nephrology Consultants, Naseemul Siddiqi, M.D., Nadeem Siddiqi, Extracorporeal Technologies, and Fort Sanders Kidney Center, Inc. entered into an agreement with the United States Department of Justice, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services, and the State of Tennessee to pay Four Million, Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand Dollars ($4,360,000.00) in settlement of a False Claims Act case filed in Federal Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee at Knoxville” (read more here http://burkhalterrayson.com/legal-news0512.html and here http://www.modernhealthcare.com/article/20120505/NEWS/305059925)
Oops, Nadeem Siddiqi is on the Board of Visitors. (http://religion.utk.edu/about/board.php)
Mr.Siddiqi was also one of many from the Muslim community that attended a press conference held in 2011 in opposition to a legislative proposal which they falsely labeled the “anti Muslim”.bill Ironically, Mr.Siddiqi had this to say while being interviewed ” Shariah is how I know how to fast in the month of Ramadan; how I wash before my prayers,” he said. “It also directs me in how much charity I need to give to the poor. It orders me to be honest and fair in my business dealings.” Apparently that only applies sometimes.
Sharia law, which Mr. Siddiqi adheres to, dictates a “good Muslim” must follow the doctrine as the prophet Muhammad prescribed. Sharia also requires a “good Muslim” to perform Dawa. ( the proselytizing of Islam) Dawa on our university and college campuses is rampant under the guise of “interfaith” Allowing a Muslim Brotherhood supporter such as Sherman Jackson (aka Abdul Hakim Jackson) to speak on Sharia was pure Dawa.
Is the spreading of Islam on our public, tax payer funded campuses acceptable? Surely allowing the Muslim Brotherhood is not.
